We offer a bespoke service. No two projects are alike and we invest time in understanding each client’s business, ambitions and needs.
Examples of the types of projects we have undertaken include:
Business Planning
We have experience in developing full business plans for presentation to internal stakeholders and potential funders. We also work on individual elements of the business planning process such that a full business case can be developed as the commercial certainty increases.
Feasibility Studies
We are able to draw on our considerable experience of launching new concepts, brands and attractions to input into the concept development process, as well as applying the rigour of the business planning process to increase the likelihood of commercial success. We carry out outline studies which provide a top-line indication of commercial viability through to full feasibility studies involving market research and concept development.
Strategic Planning
We have a depth and breadth of industry experience based on our hands-on experience at some of the UK’s most commercially successful visitor attractions, as well as our consultancy work across a broad range of leisure and tourism organisations. This allows us to bring fresh perspective to long term strategic planning, backed up by an in-depth knowledge of practical issues and an appreciation of the need to deliver tangible benefits to visitors and stakeholders.
Tourism Strategies
Tourism is often a key plank of the regeneration plan for a town, city or region. It is critical therefore to ensure that the potential value of tourism is quantified and clear strategies put in place to realise it. We work closely with other relevant agencies including master-planners, urban designers and regeneration companies to ensure that tourism has a voice in each element of the regeneration process and is in turn able to support the overall regeneration objectives.
Market Appraisals
We work with clients to provide market assessments that draw on existing management information and local knowledge and contain robust data and market trend information, but which also benefit from our ability to interpret the facts and provide insights based on our considerable industry and consultancy experience.
Due Diligence Assessments, Acquisition Planning & Advice
We are able to help to assess the realistic commercial potential of possible leisure business acquisitions. We work with clients to ensure that they are fully aware of the upsides and downsides at the outset, meaning that the transition period post-acquisition is as short and seamless as possible.
Identification & Development of Commercial Opportunities
Whether it’s an existing heritage property or a new mixed used development, we are able to use our experience to help identify and develop commercial opportunities which meet and complement the overall financial and other objectives of the project.
Heritage Lottery Fund Business Plans
Financial sustainability is key requirement of HLF and the Business Plan document forms the backbone of the submission. We have worked on a number of HLF funded projects including the £12m regeneration of Chiswick House & Gardens in West London which was awarded a Stage One pass by HLF in January 2006 for a major grant of £7.9m. We are currently undertaking the business planning for the Stage Two bid for the £10m One Site project for the People’s History Museum in Manchester.
Commercial Reviews
Our team has worked for the UK’s leading and most commercially successful attractions. We are able to apply this experience to the public sector to help organisations become financially sustainable and get the most out of commercial opportunities without compromising the core values of the organisation and its important, non-profit objectives.
Concept Review & Development
We have considerable experience of launching new concepts, brands and attractions within the leisure and tourism sectors. We work collaboratively with the management team, other agencies, stakeholders and visitors, to review and develop concepts for existing and new attractions. We apply our experience to review how a concept will be received and valued by visitors, as well as knowing what works operationally. We use think tanks, research and other methods to ensure that the visitor’s voice is heard loudly and clearly throughout the process.
Market Research Management
We have many years of experience of commissioning market research and applying the results to deliver tangible improvements to the business and to the visitor experience. We use this experience to ensure a clear brief, the appropriate research solution, an efficient use of budgets, a smooth process and finally the interpretation and application of the outputs to the particular project, business or organisation.
